The initial models for building and using OERs has a life cycle that was personally bound to the faculty member who wanted to create a resource for their teaching and sometime shared openly with others. Today, the OER life cycle has broadened to include institutional developed OER libraries (OpenStax), open education resource creators (Kahn Academy) to OER communities (Merlot II). This session will look at the life cycle of an OER and the importance and role IMS standards have from creation to the classroom.
